AKOLS Shines at MUST’s state-of-the-art Faculty of Computing and Informatics Building Opening

Mbarara, Uganda – July 4, 2025: The grand opening of the new Faculty of Computing and Informatics building at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) was not just a celebration of architectural brilliance but also a showcase of groundbreaking innovations. Among the exhibitors was AKOLS, represented by Mr. Emmanuel Maleka Simba, a pharmaceutical analyst, who presented DERMARLIC Tincture, an NDA-Notified (THA 1119) product formulated for managing topical fungal infections and eczema. The event, graced by dignitaries and academic leaders, underscored Uganda’s commitment to STEM excellence and homegrown innovation.

The ceremony was led by Hon. Molly Asiimwe, Head of the Education Committee of Parliament and Woman MP for Rwampara District, who represented the Chief Guest, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda. In her speech, Hon. Asiimwe lauded the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s visionary leadership, emphasizing that the new facility exemplifies results-driven governance and a commitment to advancing science and technology in Uganda.

Prof. Pauline Byakika-Kibwika, MUST Vice-Chancellor, emphasized the importance of the new building, which replaces a previously dilapidated structure. She reaffirmed MUST’s dedication to promoting innovation, research, and technological progress, providing students and staff with world-class resources to advance Uganda’s digital and scientific development.
